Senior Java developer – £30 – 50K Plus Benefits

A leader in commercialising Artificial Intelligence and Complex Adaptive Systems – specialising in building sophisticated software in Java using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform, and web applications in .NET/Java. These

software products provide robust, powerful optimisation and modelling solutions for their clients' needs primarily in logistics, supply chain, inventory management, and route optimisation.
These products combine cutting edge algorithms (many powerful complexity science-based techniques including agent-based modelling, learning heuristics, multi-objective optimisation, and data mining) with sophisticated

analysis, mapping, graphing capabilities, and integration with 3rd party products such as Google Earth.
They combine the Intellectual excitement of academia with the resources and practical concerns of business and industry.
They are currently looking to recruit highly intelligent individuals with a good level of scientific knowledge and software engineering skills.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
· Excellent software engineering skills, in Java – Enterprise Java.
· Ability to prototype software very quickly and then translates that prototype
into production-quality software over a longer period of time.
· Ability to work in a team of scientists, developers, and business analysts
is essential.
· Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and interesting way to
a mixed audience
· Masters or PhD in relevant scientific area (computer science, applied area of
mathematics, physics or economics)
· Understanding of combinatorial optimisation algorithms and techniques.
· An understanding of software design, UML, unit testing.
· Good knowledge of Eclipse RCP, EMF, SQL databases, Eclipse perspectives,
views, etc
· Experience with supply chain modelling, route optimisation, and similar problems
Initial salary is in the £30-£50k range, depending on experience and skills, with possible bonuses for outstanding performance. Health insurance and pension plan are also provided.
