Java Developer

We are looking for a talented Java Developer to join our expanding web development team.Reporting into the Java Lead, you will take responsibility for the design and development of new features and functionality across all tiers of our e-commerce platform – supporting the Public Web Sites for both NET-A-PORTER.COM and theOutnet.com.

This role will be instrumental in driving the future development of the sites and our underlying e-commerce platform architecture.This is a great opportunity to work with leading edge web technologies and participate in the definition of new site functionality whilst ensuring that the changing requirements of NET-A- PORTER.COM and theOutnet.com are delivered.

Essential Skills & Requirements :

• Proven experience developing in a Java enterprise environment
• Core Java skills and knowledge of design patterns
• Working with the business to produce technical specifications and cost estimations
• Appraisal and selection of third-party frameworks, libraries and services

Particular experience with as many of the following as possible:

• Spring Framework
• ORM / Hibernate
• Transactional and optimised SQL / JDBC
• SpringMVC, Struts and Tiles
• JSP and JSTL
• XML processing / Web Services

Knowledge and experience of the following is highly desirable:

• Enterprise development and design patterns (J2EE)
• Profiling and optimising applications across all tiers: application, database, caching, etc
• Linux / Unix / Scripting languages
• MySQL
• Apache Tomcat
• Messaging frameworks / JMS / ActiveMQ
• AJAX / AJAJ / RIA frameworks
• Exposure and contribution to open-source projects

We are looking for candidates with the following:

• Articulate with good writing skills
• Healthy dose of common sense and initiative a plus.
• Great sense of humour and attitude

Location:This role is based in our Head Office in W2.
